Luft Racing Helmets

We are very pleased to announce that we have teamed up with Luft Racing Helmets to distribute their helmets here at Girl Rider.
This innovative helmet range is LUFT's patented FULL HELMET AIRBAG™
It is designed to provide optimum comfort and safety. Safety experts agree the most important factor in choosing a helmet is choosing one that fits correctly. The ability of a helmet to reduce injury to the wearer in the first instance depends on whether it is securely in place during impact. The inflatable FULL HELMET AIRBAG helps to eliminate factors such as head shape and change in hair styles, thus allowing for a correct fit.
Whist comfort and safety are our priority, Luft's designers have also focused on every day practicality.

Designed for motorcycle enthusiasts by motorcycle enthusiasts all of our helmets can be easily adjusted with your gloves on!
With ease and GLOVED fingers you can;
Adjust front clear visor
Adjust the internal polarized visor for sunny days
Open and close the NEW quick release chin strap

Your Luft helmet also comes with an antifog breath guard and chin curtain, both of which are easily removeable. The front visor replacement system is quick and simple. Simply raise the visor and one press of the quick release button and the visor is removed. When the visor is fully raised it has a perfect angle and air gap between visor and helmet to create minimum drag and distortion. The visor's strategic engineering also funnels wind into the top air vent when open, allowing a cooler ride.

LUFT Helmets meet or exceed the following : DOT FMVSS 218 (US), ECE 22-05 (EUROPE), AS/NZS 1698:2006 (AUSTRALIA)

You can now purchase the full range of Luft helmets via our on-line shop

Tribute to the Original Girl Rider in mylife

As a young girl many people make an impact on your life. Not only do they encourage you to become an independent woman, in some cases they become someone you look up too for your life. More importantly this person in my life was my Gran - Nana to me and Doris to her family and friends. She was a woman who was greatly independent and very opinionated but still compassionate.
As a young girl of 3 yrs Nan became a widow, she never remarried and worked vey hard right up to her 70's and of course showered us all with her love right up too her passing.
We lost Nana her eight weeks short of her 100th birthday, a wonderful mile stone in anyone's life let alone hers. She was so excited to be achieving such a celebration and that the joy of hopefully receiving a letter from the Queen was always in the back of her mind being British.

Back in 1957 my grandparents and mother made the decision to immigrate to Australia such a huge decision seeing that London was still trying to rebuild since the end of WWII. Back then there was a lot of things not available like what there is to us today. So much so that public transport from their family home in Brooklyn some 10kms from the Melbourne CBD was not existent. In order to do her job Nana purchased a 1958 Vespa - only 125cc bike. It may have been short of horsepower but definatly not short on miles that it was ridden. She rode that bike everywhere not only around Melbourne but as far as Bendigo, Ballarat and Geelong.
No ride was ever too short - will miss you always Nana xx

IFRD - International Female Ride Day

Melbourne's inaugural event to celebrate IFRD which was held on May 6th 2011 at the "Hub " in Melbourne Docklands was the meeting point for the ride.
After riding through Melbourne and upon the circuit where the Australian Formula One GP is held. We all headed over the Westgate bridge to Williamstown where we all caught up to chat over dinner. An enjoyable night was had by all and we welcome to wonderful girls from the USA. Catt and Vicki from Event Scene management and Diamond Posse.
We look forward to making this an annual event for the Girl Rider's of Melbourne...keep posted to our website for more details on next year's event.
